I’m replacing the oil pump in my 2000. The oil pump is lined up with the distributor shaft. I can only get it to slide in as far as the collar on top of the oil pump. What am I missing?

I recently experienced this and I'm pretty sure it turned out to be the slot in the shaft was still not lining up... keep trying slight changes. I don't believe there are any other obstructions. Others may chime in...

I agree with Greg. More tries and it will happen.
