67' Datsun 1600 - What is a fair offer?

Post by jdecoste »

Hey all, I recently found this listing for a 1967 Datsun 1600. It is the exact color and model year I'm looking for, so I am interested. However, I am having trouble valuing it. Will provide the info and pics seller is providing in the listing below. Driving up to see it tomorrow afternoon, so will be able to take better pictures then. Any help is appreciated.

Seller has listed it at $22,000

I did forget to write in the post it doesn’t start. I changed out the battery, new fuel filter element and new starter and now it won’t start. Won’t even crank over. Thinking it could be electrical. Might have to run a bypass to get started.

Looks pretty rough and incomplete for the asking price. Paint could be hiding potential issues. Not starting, not knowing if hydraulics are ok, are red flags. It would be a 10ft pole for me. FWIW Pat

Hmmm….some of the vehicles in the background look pretty modern to me🤔.
I too think the car is overpriced considering some of the aforementioned issues. However the U-20 and associated performance parts do lend to a much higher price than a stock 1600. If the starting issue is resolved before any money changes hands and there is little to no rust and you have another ten large to throw at it I’d say 15K would be fair to both parties. But then my pricing guesses are usually way off☹️. Hope it works for you!
