Re: 69 roadster
That looks like a fun Roadster project. My uncle used to have one in the 80's. I'll just finish installing the suspension from 4Wheelonline onto the truck tomorrow, and we'll visit them for a family occasion. I bet he will like that Roadster.

Re: 69 roadster
So I have been having fun with the roadster but it looks like I will need to pull the engine for a clutch replacement. Since I am pulling the motor decided to lighten a spare flywheel to put it in. While the engine is out what other tid bits do you think I can do?

You will be very happy with that lightened flywheel! What weight did you get it too?
"When all else fails, force prevails!" Ummm, we're gonna need a bigger hammer here.

Re: 69 roadster
I got too excited and only took pics. I dropped off the flywheel to get balanced without weighing it. I did give the machinist to race prep diagram. That stated around 13lbs. I told him to be a little conservative on the machining. Felt like 18ish

I can't really think of anything else to do with the engine out... check manifold bolts maybe that can be hard to reach? It sometimes best to follow the ol "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

While you have the engine out and the coolant drained, I would recommend pulling the block drain plug and see how bad the cooling system looks inside.

Re: 69 roadster
17 lbs is what I wanted! The machinist used to race MGs back in the day. He was pretty interested in my roadster. I told him I would drive it over after I replace the clutch. I don't know the going rate for work like this but 100 bucks seems like a steal!

Re: 69 roadster
That's awesome! ...and that's half what I just spent! I reckon you got a great deal.
I think the only difference is that mine was cleaned, refinished and he took it down to 15 lbs exactly.
By all accounts, a lighter flywheel makes a big difference. Fingers crossed.
Some lighter flywheel/clutch discussion is going on here if you haven't seen it:
