'66 steering column ?

Post by dynaguy »

I have a knock coming from the steering column. The rubber "seal" that is on the shaft where it goes into the column at the firewall is intact. My question is, is there a bushing or felt wrap etc, on the passenger side end of the column where the shaft exits to the steering wheel. There is some up and down play there. Don't want to do a tear down unless necessary. TIA Pat

Year's a go I replaced the upper steering bushing, on 66 . Sounds like that is what you are in countering. It's not hard....just one more thing to do..
