Hey y'all! Well, finally got my new toy. I was stationed in Japan for 3 years in the 90s and saw one and had no idea what it was. In 2000 my wife (then girlfriend) saw one in Arkansas at a cheesy used car dealership that was an old gas station. I was looking for a reliable car but a 1600 was in the lot. I told the wife that this was perfect, but we needed something running and ended up with a Dodge Intrepid. Fast forward to 2021.
For my 46th birthday my wish was granted. I found (he had it for sale on here) a decent condition and running SRL 311. A little bit of body rust in the 1/4s but the floors are rest are fairly solid. Minor frame repair that is still solid. Has Miata seats, a roll bar, SnugTop hard top, bimini and a soft top that I need the spinners and stabbers for on the body. All in all it's a great running project.
First items on the table that I just bought is a new radiator, new (NOS) water pump, tune up kit (plugs, filters, etc), 160deg t-stat, and the timing chain kit (chains, gaskets, shims, etc). Just need to ensure it runs solid before I start tackling the other stuff.
Not sure what direction I'm going to go with on the body (color) but I'm going to do a bondo, scrape, and spray for now.

Re: NOLA 69 2k
Sounds like a great project. I would make sure it runs and stops before even worrying about the cosmetics. Drive it and have fun.

Thanks. Yup, that's the plan. Stop any further rust and focus on the parts that make me stop and go lol. Next improvement will be to all the bushings.

Re: NOLA 69 2k
Welcome aboard, car looks pretty solid. I think that the 69’s are the best of the high windshield cars. My thoughts may be somewhat biased however
