Originally purchased 1970 by John P. when he was in the army. Kept it for 10 years. His new brother-in-law Pat M.bought it from him around 1980. It has been in Greenville, SC since. I have the receipts and Pat had a restoration performed by a “very slow” shop over 2 years about 2005-7. Pat married my sister around that time. They would drive to NC mountains on weekends. It was kept garaged. In 2014, Pat was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. One year later he died. I, already, with an interest in vehicles purchased it from Pat’s children for $7k. They could not drive a manual. Esthetically nice but needed mechanical work. Starter, brakes, clutch, master and slave, tires, rebuilt SU’s, rebuilt head, new carpet, moved driver seat back an inch. Just turned 100k. I call it “Pat”after my brother-in-law.

Welcome, Dave! Car looks great. Lots of good information here.

I know what you mean by a slow restoration, I’m coming up on 10 months on my 67.5. Hopefully it will be ready by June.

Peace,
Pat

A two year restoration is by no means slow! You must possess copious amounts of patience with oddball restorations. Very nice looking car, hope it helps you keep Pat’s memory alive. I assume you liked him :smt017

I'm at year 8 on the restoration of my 68 1600. They tell me patients is a virtue. I am sure yours will go a lot faster.

I'm curious DoctoDave, has that 100,000 mile engine had its timing chains changed in its lifetime?
