The possibility of making high windshield to low ws

Post by bespa »

Reading the thread about six footers make me think of lowering
my windshield.

I'm pretty sure it's possible. Has anyone perform such feat?
Is it as simple as swaping high to low? Does it fit perfectly?
And is there any adjustment to the back side where the hard
or soft top fits?

Thanks for any input.

This sounds like a heck of a lot of work...But anything can be done...

The low windshield models have a removable windshield frame.

However, the Higher windshield frame is molded in place as part of the auto's body.

That means that I have to cut the high windshield. Hmmm.
Better start with a low windshild frame then.

Did anyone buy those 2 roadsters at Half Moon Bay yet?
Two frames and an engine.

This and dash swapping have been discussed many times before. More trouble than it would be worth. Buy a low windshield car and start from there.

The panel between the hood and windsheild is larger on the low window (because the rake of the windsheild is different)

Sounds ugly boss

Not mention you have to swap out the left and right side windows and corner windows. You will also have to swap the convertable top to a low window too. And, you have to install a new rear view mirror.

With enough time and money - and a friend at a street rod shop - the high windshield car can be cut down to a low windshield car using all stock high windshield components - just modified to be a little shorter....

But the question would remain - why?

I'm short.

I have to start making friends at the street rod shops then.

With the relative value of Roadsters, and the seemingly endless supply out west, I think that you are miles ahead to sell the high windshield car and buy a low windshield model.

Another option - if you want to spend this much time doing body work - is to get the cowl section of a low windshield car and graft over the parts you need to make the conversion...
