Early armrest lid spring - which way does it go

Post by 23yrRebuild »

Here is my Quick / Small / Stupid question:
Early armrest lid spring - which way does it go ?
Is the lid supposed to spring open when unlatched, or want to spring closed when released ? Any explanation or pics are very welcome.
Thanks,
Mike

I had the "pleasure" of restoring 3 of them this year
The lid should want to open when unlatched and have some resistance to closing the U shaped part goes rests on the back wall of the console and the 2 straight parts should be on the lid

Thank you, Pjack ! ....that's how I thought it should go....It's been without the spring installed for so long, while waiting for the box to be eventually refurbished, that I wasn't sure how the spring went back together.
Thanks again !
