Supercharged U20 guy?

Post by 70MTroadster »

Haven't we had posts from this fella? Seems like I've seen him respond to this forum. Anybody know who he is, where he's from, how he did his supercharged engine?

That would be Plasmaboy from downunder. I am sure he will respond sooner or later.

After looking at the photos Alvin sent me, Craig's is not a U20. I'm guessing it is a stroker R16. The valve cover does not belong to a U20.

I believe this might be the post you are looking for.

Plasmaboy is the man... The supercharger he's using is a Toyota SC12 that comes out of a MR2. An alternate option is the JDM SC14 upgrade.

No clue on Craig's supercharger. It does not appear to be the VW Corrado's G60 supercharger.

It is a U20. Like I said before, the front end of the engine was completely cut-off and redone, the valve cover had to fit accordingly.

Hi people .. yes I have a supercharger on my U20 .. it is indeed off of a japanese MR2 .. with a modified drive pully ( no clutch mechanism ) and it's driven of of a multi V belt from a pully I had made up bolted to the crank snout .

How about doing an article on the supercharger conversion so that the speed freaks up here in the US can get in on the fun? I am sure that Steve would find a spot for it somewhere. Pictures would be way cool - I would love to see how you engineered it.

Craig Hooper's car is a fantastic example of a bottomless wallet. It is a U-20 that has been changed from a chain drive cam to a belt drive cam. That is why the cam cover does not look like the stock unit - the front end was chopped and sealed. He also removed the Nissan OHC in the casting - a nice clean look.
