I needed the info too. I am planning on returning my 1968 to the original white with a red interior. I see your console is red, is that original? My Radio in my 1968 is vertical. Was the original Carpet red or black? I believe the top was black, assume the boot was as well? Thanks!

Low windshield and high windshield are different. The low windshield armrest console could be red or black. High windshield black only. Carpet would be the same as the color of the upholstery. Tops, tonneaus and boots were all black. 62-67 were canvas, 68 and later were vinyl.

OK, another question...

My 1968 never had headrests. I have heard of other earlier 1968 models with the same. The seat pattern is different between 1967 1/2 (5 evenly spaced "ribs") and 1968 (2 wide "ribs" on the outer center and 4 narrow "ribs" on the inner center) available from the vendors and the 1968 requires headrest plugs. Which is pattern is correct for a 1968 model that never came with headrests? I do not have the original upholstery in mine as it was done in tan in the early 90's (for what it is worth, it has 5 evenly spaced ribs). I have a picture of the car before the recover, but I can't see the seat pattern although the tops of the seats don't look like they had plugs but I had to blow the picture up a lot to see it, so I really am not sure. Should I be getting the 67 1/2 upholstery????

Thanks,
Bill

Headrests wee optional on 67.5 and 68 cars. Headrests for 68 cars are the same as the 69 and 70 ones.
68 seats had provision to mount headrests and had grommets in the top of the seatbacks that were covered with plastic plugs when headrests were not used.

Thanks Stan. Which seat pattern did the '68s have? The picture by Alvin above looks like its a '67 1/2 and has 5 same sized ribs in the center section. Are the 2 wide "ribs" on the outer center and 4 narrow "ribs" on the inner center the correct pattern for a '68?

The 67.5 seat ribs were wide as shown in Alvins picture 68-70 had narrower ribs.

None came with red sun visors.

I have some new red diamond pattern material that was made in Japan at the place that made the original seat covers.

Thanks Stan. Is the material you have the same vinyl thickness as original? ...or leather? I am "thinking" about going non-original and having the upholstery made without the headrest holes. If I did that, I would need that red diamond material.

The red diamond vinyl that I have is the same thickness as the original used for the seat covers.

Thanks Stan. I decided to go with the stock '68 covers and the headrest plugs.
