Paint or Plate, Yellow or Silver?

Post by Curtis »

Afternoon,

Getting parts for the 67 ready for powder coat. Did not find this in a search.

First item of question. E brake linkage. Mine has black paint on it. I have no way to know if that is original although it seems to be based on the rust on the rods and the amount of paint left. So as the title states, paint or plate, yellow or silver?

Thanks, Curtis

The linkage on the axle or from cockpit to axle? I guess I've seen them in all finishes:
I don't know if it's cad/zinc plated

Bob, can you comment on this finish?

Well it certainly looks nice plated.

My linkage has been sitting in my garage for over 15 years and sat in the guys garage I bought it from for 15 to 20 years if I recall correctly. The car had been repainted but it is obvious it has never had the body off. I have to think the paint is original based on what is left and the rust.

I have some spare brake cables and rods and they are not painted - plating is dull if it exists at all - they look like steel but but can't tell if they were ever cad plated. Maybe zinc
