2006 "Mitty" All Datsun Meet East Coast

Post by S Allen »

Brad the prez of SEROC(the biggest roadster club on the planet) has asked me to post the flyer for the next years Road Atlanta "Mitty" event at the end of April.

Brad's comments "This event is going to be an ALL Japanese event. A first for the east coast. Bill MacDonald of Grassroots/Classic Motor Sports is working with us and other east coast clubs to make this a super event. They are hoping for over 1000 Japanese "Sporty" cars to show. We would love to swamp the event with Datsuns particularly Roadsters. Your site would be a great place to place for the flier of the event. (Hopefully attached to this email) We have been given permission by Bill to use it to promote the event. If you could find a place for the event ad we sure would appreciate it. You can use my name and email address for a point of contact if anyone has questions."

Here is the flyer http://www.311s.org/events/Mitty06Flyer.pdf

You can contact Brad for more information at bholmes@mail.aum.edu

Hey All:

Thought it would be worthwhile to bump this one back up to the top.

I plan to attend and it's likely I'll be accompanied by some folks from the Middle Tennessee Z Club. Several 350s, one or two 280s and a couple VERY nice 240s are the ones that will probably make the trip. And me.

Doug at Crawford Z Car Service in Nashville has convinced me not to tow the 2000 with my Frontier, but to use his modified F350 Crew Cab Turbo Diesel to save on fuel. We'll be bringing a small resort with us in the truck as well, so I'm inclined to accept his offer.

The 350 guys in our club are hotel types, (well most of them are). I'm the camping type. Hope to hook up with anyone who plans to be in the infield for this excellent event.

I won't be attending this year, but the situation sounds interesting, and I have some questions. Will the cars be allowed to drive on the track? If so, at speed or as a parade?

However, the most important question is: Will the cars have to go "Pockita, pockita, pockita"? 8) If that question makes no sense, perhaps a reading of the original Walter Mitty story would be in order.

Bucky,

I am pretty sure they will have marquee parade laps. I think the only hot laps will be made by the race cars bumping ad spinning their way around the tracks. ...But I could be wrong.

Yes, there will be track time (if they hold to previous years formats), but no, it will not be a free for all out there. There is a pace car and no passing. When you get there, chat with the experienced to find out how to have the most fun.

Im guessing wait till the last second to follow the curve/turn, and go a little slow and let the others get a little ahead and then stomp it?
