i think you can make a "buck" out of appropriate plastic pipe and work at it with wooden "strikers" - tedious - but with the right vintage cabernet - all is possible

we use a metal dolly that we made that fit outer side of the molding. Its very slow and tedious as too hard a hit makes a dent the other way and stretches the stainless. Slow and methodical is the only way to repair stainless.

I would have thought that since the "dent" comes from the outside that one would be "hammering" outwards rather than inwards

We fit the dolly to the outside and hammer from the inside but too hard a blow pushed the dent too far. sorry about the confusion.

While perusing Hot Rod Network, I came across using a carriage bolt with the top filed to the right profile. Home Depot had 1/4 inch carriage bolt that almost fits perfectly. $.28 in Canadian Pesos.
