1967 Datsun 1600 - How are the rubber stoppers by the exhaust used?

Have a look at the picture.
Do they still sell this part? Can someone direct me to a manual pic that shows the exhaust and this part. I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
DO they need to be used or can I just ignore them?

I think it is referred to as a pretzel clamp.

I bought a shock absorber rubber mount (got at O'Reillys) to use on one of my bolts which holds the pretzel clamp in place.
If I ever get my new SS exhaust installed from Jim Tyler I should have a spare pretzel clamp.
This likely will not happen for at least a week though.

One of the pretzel hangers on my '67 needs new isolators, so I hunted around a little awhile back. They are readily available separate from the rest of the hanger, and very reasonable. Be aware though that there needs to be a little sheet steel heat shield protecting the rubber isolator.

Here's a bunch of pictures of what I did. I ended up switching all mine to the rectangular Peugot one. They're only a couple bucks each. Bought them from Rock Auto made by Bosal. I don't recall the part number but have it at home.
