Re: Frame body pad kits
How about some pictures or details of what you get for $80? Sounds like a darn decent deal.

Re: Frame body pad kits
Can anyone who has purchased one of these kits give some feedback about how they installed?

Re: Frame body pad kits
Haven't installed yet. Very nice, non absorbent, closed cell foam product to keep the water out. All pieces are cut to original size specs, then numbered. Included is an excellent diagram for the layout in exact location for each numbered pad. Installed with weatherstrip adhesive. Fast shipping.

Re: Frame body pad kits
The maker of these used the original horsehair pads for accurate measurement of the reproduction pads. Nice clean cuts from what I understand.

Re: Frame body pad kits
I already installed mine last week--the body too. Went exactly as planned. I added a little extra material to pads 3 and 6 as they were shorter than the horsehair pads were on my car. No biggie. The original padding was hand cut and I doubt the specs were hard and fast for every single car.
Shipping was fast and seems to be a very suitable alternative to the original.
Thanks!

Re: Frame body pad kits
If he doesn't have them I just ordered closed cell foam from the Foam Factory and cut them out. There are measurements in the wiki. I tried to order them elsewhere but they were out of stock. Took me less than an hour to cut them up.

Re: Frame body pad kits
Does anyone know the durometer of the material that was being used here? I may be able to offer a new source for these (water jet cut too!)

Re: Frame body pad kits
I had purchased some 50 durometer neoprene that was too firm and did not compress at all. The body did not settle at all and I am looking for an alternative.
I'm sure some form of rubber foam would be a better choice.
If you end up with a good solution I would be interested is purchasing a set.
Please keep us updated, thanks!

Re: Frame body pad kits
@funkaholic used this stuff, and since he's doing such an annoyingly impeccable job on his car... I reckon I'd trust it.

I used Xcel marine foam, a closed cell rubber roll that I ordered on Amazon. It has a strong adhesive on one side, and cuts easily. $35 for enough to do 2 cars. In fact, if anyone here needs to replace their pads, and can pick it up in the East SF Bay, you can have the other half of this roll for free. PM me if you want it.
Here is a link to the roll on Amazon:

Re: Frame body pad kits
Are you using this stuff to make all the body pads or just the larger ones on the back of the frame rails?

I made all the body pads out of this material.

Re: Frame body pad kits
Thoughts on using this for the gas tank strap padding replacing the orig. Horse hair? Possibly too thick effecting strap reach? I see they make 1/4 inch as well.
Thanks
