Shielding starter from frying!!!

Post by DatsunMax »

Hello 311s family,
How can one take the precaution to protect the starter being fry by the exhaust manifold. Since the starter is just right above the exhaust. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
DatsunMax, Out looking to restore my convertible.

Header wrap. Fabricate a heat shield. Both.

IMHO, unless there is a leak at the manifold/pipe junction, the starter is pretty OK. Never had one fail for THAT reason in countless miles.
But, no reason not to go the extra mile.
