Early Windshield Replacement

Post by Wikket77 »

Hello All,
I receive an email today from Chris Batterman and he wanted to pass this along.
Early Windshield replacement.

Hey Chris:
Hope all is going well. I am happy to say the sample windshield you hooked me up with indirectly from someone in western MA. We went ahead and ordered 15 clear and 25 green tint produced. The pricing is $225 clear or $250 light green tint throughout. We recognize a lot of the earlier cars had clear windshields so we decided to offer both options.
Delivery time is September as the turnarounds are much better than in the past..

Take care,
Richard

Wow, that is a great price even with shipping added on to it. I may have to pick up a spare.

Another longtime vendor has a known solution for less money. Not sure what shipping is from ProSource, but the other vendor has that posted as well. No affiliations or kick backs, just noting it.

Right - I noticed that too. I had in my head for some reason that windshields cost like $700 but I went and check on Datsunparts and they were more like $200. Needless to say I was relieved lol. as I have 2 cars I am restoring.

Cheers

The Nissan original in the Nissan box is higher priced. The aftermarket ones are here if anyone needs one right away:

sorry for bringing this old thread back on top.

I have to order a new windshield for my 69/70 Roadster. At the moment there is a friend of mine in the US who wants to import a car to germany and can ship the windshield with the car - I hope

So I checked the prices on datsunparts.com and was astonished  :|

Does the prices for a ordinary windshield rises the last or last 2 years from around 400USD to now 700USD ???

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread post, but I’m about to get a new windshield. I don’t know if I should get the clear or green tint? I’ve been looking for pictures to compare, but I haven’t seen any. I was hoping to get your thoughts. Is one more traditional/classic/original than the other, is there a visible difference? Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.

I had my low windshield glass replaced back in 1984, after I cracked the original, clear one trying to remove it from the frame. The replacement was a NISSAN, green tinted glass, part number 72613-10400, was the only version available to me at the time, and cost me $116.98 from my local Datsun Dealership. I was initially concerned about it not matching the clear door, and vent windows glass, but I didn't then, and I don't now, drive with the door windows up anyway. The tint isn't really that apparent to me, even alongside the clear vent window glass. I don't even think it would be noticeable to anyone else unless maybe the door windows were rolled up, and they were specifically trying to notice the difference. I can't speak to the effect of an aftermarket windshield, but wanted to share my experience....
