SRL311-00060 May Live Again!
I picked up this project a while back. I was thinking of just redoing the frame, and turning my current "clone" into car # 60. I've started disassembling the car. After looking at everything, I may have to change my mind, and just redo # 60 all together as the car is actually in better shape than I had thought. The inner fenders, rockers and floor pans are gone. The dash, wiring, hydraulics, frame all look to be in great shape. Since the motor (U20) in SPL311-14241 is real solid, I may use that motor and drive train in # 60 and maybe consider a swap at some point on the SPL. I'll go through the engine and drive train currently in the car and keep for a spare.
This will be a long project, and will always need a running car. So, the swaps may need to happen during the winter. I'll start a build thread when I get to that stage.

You'll certainly have a higher value car if you refurbish the original SRL Vin#.

I had holes big enough to throw softballs through them. That car is quite salvageable!

The original engine for #60 can be had. It is here in Florida - at my house!

HA! That's cool. My original was #1000, but apparently it came apart big time (welded cam cover and 7 quart pan), has #540 now...

What, Arkansas wasn't far enough to drive! We will be making a deal in the future that's for sure. I guess shipping can't be that bad. You had better toss in those Konis as well.spl310 wrote:The original engine for #60 can be had. It is here in Florida - at my house!

Don't talk to me about Koni's. They are all long gone...

I have one of Sid's set of Konis - but you have to drive to Houston to get them...

All joking aside - I agree Kyle, If your "high test" SPL is any indication you'll do a great job on #60. I'm glad to hear you're considering restoring the whole car.
You should head over to Pueblo and pick up the free car - then you can use the floors and other body parts to patch up #60. Seriously.
Cheers
James

Re: SRL311-00060 May Live Again!
I thought about that pretty seriously. I just don't think I can get there before he needs to get rid of it though. My SPL was my first attempt at a resto. I'll do things a bit differently with #60. Since I have one to drive, I will be a bit more patient.jamesw wrote:All joking aside - I agree Kyle, If your "high test" SPL is any indication you'll do a great job on #60.
