Parting is such sweet sorrow - transmission

Post by Revbang »

I am parting out an early 67. It is far too far gone. Is the only way to get the transmission out to take it up and out the engine compartment connected to the engine? Need some kind of lift to do this? Mark

That is the preferred method of removing the transmission. You should use a lift - they are heavy little suckers...

That is the easiest way. Rent an engine hoist and a leveler to pull the engine and tranny as a unit. If you do not drain the tranny fluid stick a paint can cap over the tail housing to keep from getting tranny fluid all over the ground.
