1966 520 Pickup

Post by Skyman »

Are these rare at all? I don't see many for sale. Here's one local. It's been sitting for 20+ years. I could pick it up real cheap.

It actually might be a 65. There's no logo on the grill.

I like the 620 better for that cool body line it has on the side. But any old Datsun pick up is a COOL truck.

they are not rare, and in my opinion the looks improved as they got closer to the end of the 520 line (69 and 70, and on).
The rare one is the NL320, like this:

Depends on what you consider rare. I think the 520's are fairly rare. They were only made for 3 years, 65, 66 & 67. And 65' was only 1/2 year. The first half of 65 was the 320 like mine, late 65 was the 520. Then for 1st year and a half of 520's, they had a single headlight, after that they went to a double headlight 520. So, rare? I feel they are.

Of course I love the old pickups. Here is a picture of mine.

I agree, basically 1 year only for the single headlight 520 would make them "rare". There are a few things on the 65's that the later ones did not have that makes them even more rare. A lot of people confuse the 520 with the much more common 521, since they look similar.

My wife loves your trucks, Dale! She wants one similar real bad. This one we looked at was too far gone. :(

Thanks Skyman,

Yea from the pictures you posted it looked like the 520 would be a real project. Keep your eyes open, something will come up.

Last year I sold the red 620. Still kicking myself, but I'm just so limited on room! I just add it to the long list of Datsun's I should have never sold. :?

I've owned the 320 for a very long time. That's the Datsun I will probably never sell. I've had a lot of fun with it over the years.

Thanks for the nice compliment!

Oh Ferg, you had to go and post that. How difficult is it to get parts for those? What motor did they have? Ugh.

From the doors back, not easy. The interior and front end stuff can use L320 parts which while not exactly easy, are still out there. Motor should be the E1 1200.
