Barry
Thanks for posting this - I just read it and need to digest(re-read) all the links - but v. interesting indeed.
I clearly had it that Albrecht was instrumental in the design - clearly there was NO evolution from the roadster (except perhaps the headlight treatment)

Some of the pix seem close to the Toyata 2000GT (coincidently also with Yamaha involvement) - though I had never heard of such a project before.

BTW - have you ever discovered in your research what led to the discontinuation of the roadster as an evolutionary path. Clearly Honda (S2000) and Mazda (Miata) have taken a slice of the market that Datsun/Nissan OWNED (at least from a japanese company)
Cheapish, powerful, successful (certainly racing-wise) - certainly competitive in its' class with anything else on the then market.

Thanks again

(of course I have to trust your journalisted/research approach - new gospel to be repreated??<G>)

I didn't write the article. Found it and thought it might be of interest to others and so placed the link here.

Cheers,
Barry

BarryC,
Thanks for posting, as in your effort.

But the large part written on this page about Goertz and his Nissan involvement is tosh. With the Silvia there is nothing showing any involvement of Goertz, apart from changing the angle of the C pillar. The sketches Kimura done before Goertz had even arrived in Japan, and even then he would have only 4/5 visits over his year contract as a design assistant. Only his (Goertz) first visit would fall when the design process was nearly finished.

Whatever Goertz says is deliberately meant to lead you down the road to what he wants you to believe, and won't correct himself....leading to an myth... Horrible little man.

With all the research done on websites like this, they just look at the what is printed in English, not at what is in Japanese.

For the record, Kazuo Kimura did the exterior design for the Nissan Silvia (CSP311).

As for the Nissan 200GT, its complicated, but everytime I look Goertz involvement gets a little less.....

Passionate about this, you bet ya!

Reading Mr. Goertz's speech:

He is saying the "Z" is based on the Silva because they are both 2 seat sport coupes.......and therefore because he had some small part in the design of the Silva, he should get credit for the design of the "Z".

Very Funny.....

As I read it, the Z is not based at all on the Roadster but they, independently came up with similar headlights, interiors, engine compartment set up, ...?
