Mike's '67.5 SPL311

Post by bikermike »

I'm starting a thread to document some of the updates I am making to my car. As the car appears to be very stock I don't intend to make any major changes.

Based on suggestions from reading the forum and my own tastes I have made a few cosmetic tweaks to the front of the car in the last couple of months. I'd like to share a before and after pic.

Changes:
1. Added license plate bracket to center the plate on bumper and provide space for foglights
2. Replaced license plate frame
3. Added Eagle Eye Fog Lights (with relay)
4. Painted the area behind the grille flat black
5. Rotated pass side parking light bucket to align screws in 3 o'clock / 9 o'clock positions

At some point I may opt to paint the recess under the hood scoop black as well, but I'm ok with it as it is.

All tastefully done and it looks great.

The fog lights look terrific, very well done. I also like that you centered the license plate -- are there any issues with it scraping on driveways, etc?

Thanks guys.

There are no issues with scraping. The bottom of the plate frame is about 10.5" above the ground - about at the same height as the bottom of the bumper overriders.

Can you please post a link to where you got the plate frame? I have been looking for one too - looks nice!

I picked up the frame at my local Pep Boys. I was looking for something thick since the 44 year old license plate has a bunch of scratches on it I was trying to cover up. I'm pretty sure I trashed the wrapper, but if I pass by there I'll take a quick look for you.

FYI for jamesw...

The license plate frame is made by Cruiser Accessories and it is the Montego model #21430. I picked it up for ~$9. Prices online vary quite a bit.
