Hello all. I am as new to social media stuff as to owning a ‘68 fair lady 2000. Her engine needs a lot of work but looks as if all parts there.
When I make a mistake here please forgive me and gently point out my error and I will correct.

Welcome MIUP, pictures came out fine. Rt side of your car looks straight, interior has been covered in storage! Your 68' 2L car is fantastic, someone prior was having some fun in the snow, given those tires. Lots of experts here to answer any questions and help if/as necessary getting her back on the road successfully. Nice car.

Thanks.prior to 82 she was in Texas. She then moved to Florida. In 88 she came to UP Michigan. Her structure seems good. Mechanical not good. Crank has problems so off to machine shop. I don’t want to swap so

The crank is messed up. Can roll engine by hand only part way clockwise and counter clockwise.
It has been sitting that way for about 15 years.

Yes, greetings! As many have already said, there's no problem asking questions about ANYTHING... unlike other car sites I've seen we don't "flame" people here... we're just here to help in any way we can. I encourage you to review the site, check out the online manuals and all the great info in the tech "wiki" (I honestly don't know what "wiki" stands for... Wikipedia?). You may spend a few hours familiarizing yourself with the site and how it works (far better than Facebook). Let us know about your background... i.e. level of automotive related knowledge and experience, access to tools, etc as that will help us tailor our responses to you, as well as your goals both short and long term, and (without getting "personal") your idea of a budget (everything from "I'm on a strict budget" to "funds will not be an issue") as many of us have "been there" when starting this process and know that whole deal. We can probably help guide you on priorities based on your overall goals.

Thanks Greg. Far amount of tools. No specialty tools, but I expect to acquire as needed. Engine was stripped to a long block before I acquired her. I would feel better putting her back together had I taken her apart.
I am lacking on mechanical knowledge, but was in construction and learned to get in and work.
hopefully what wasn’t put in front seat will be in a box in barn.
Biggest concern isn’t putting block back together, but hopefully brackets, hoses, tubing is in a box to work getting her together. Then mating it up to 5 speed that is still in car. No idea how to weld so….

Yes I know motor will bolt up to tranny. Really hope to find box of bolts, belts, hoses, brackets etc.
carbs are in front sear!

Noted the cracks welded up on the exhaust header. I've not seen them crack there before BUT have dealt with cracks and they suck, almost never weld up and last for long... if I were you I'd budget for a header, and if budget is an issue see if anyone has a good used aftermarket header for sale. I THREW my old stock manifold down the alley after I got it out for the third time due to cracks. I think there was talk some time ago about an often missing support that allows them to crack more easily? Just an FYI...
