CNBC Tease
There was just a tease on CNBC that said the next best thing in car investing just may be... a Datsun and showed a silver and red 2000!

"The other top sellers were the typical mix of Ferraris, Porsches and Mercedes-Benzes. Gooding & Co. sold a 1968 Porsche 907 Longtail Coupe for $3.6 million and a 1959 Porsche 718 RSK Spyder for $3.3 million.
But there were some surprises. A 1958 BMW 507 Roadster was sold by RM for $1.8 million, suggesting that BMWs are starting to make inroads in the collectible car world.
The collectibles boom is even trickling down to Datsuns and VWs. RM sold a 1955 Volkswagen Beetle for $82,500 and Gooding sold a 1968 Datsun 1600 for $50,600.
But don't assume that the rusty Beetle in the garage is suddenly worth a fortune. Both the VW and Datsun were immaculately restored."

Perhaps Alvin, but here's the happy ending...Alvin wrote:Kurt, you my friend are a tease
After an hour wait, (now that's a tease!) the report by the author Robert Frank was saying that "This is either the sign of a collecting bubble or the true beauty of old Datsun's". "The market may be trickling down to these models."
Apparently a 1968 1600 sold at Gooding for $50,600!!! From what I could tell the car had New Jersey plates? Anyone here??! I believe it mentioned the car was "beautifully restored"
The report then went on to discuss other models and there was some banter afterwards about Brian Sullivan's dad who used to race 510s.

Re: CNBC Tease
$50,600 may well be a fair price for a beautifully restored 1600. Apparently, the buyer thought so.
I certainly hope so.
