I've spent a lot more time cleaning up the car and getting her running right. I got the drums turned and replaced a leaky rear brake cylinder (guess it was too pitted). I still haven't gotten all of the air out of the brake system but it stops reliably enough to drive it around the neighborhood.
I also got the whitewalls mounted and you can see here that they really dress up the car - despite still having the blue perservative on them.
I cleaned up the grill and bumpers and they look decent now. Bob2 brought me some nice headlight surrounds so I'll get those on the car soon. Thanks Bob! I also got a set of beautiful chrome gauge surrounds from Ross that I will install eventually.
That's actually Dan (Datsun65) in the car. This car is almost identical to the one he used to own. Dan, Bob, Ross, and Sid have all helped me out a lot getting the car back on the road, thanks!
Cheers
James

Wow, she really is a beautiful and classy looking car. Reminds me a lot of Mitch Jensen of Canada's 1500. It's gonna be hard to decide what to drive... the 1500 or the '67 2000... gee, life is hard!!!

Re: I bought a 64 1500
I ended up trading this car - and I've been kicking myself ever since.
But a good opportunity came up and I bought another 64 1500 - this time the one that was at auction in Dallas. Thanks for Bob2 for helping me negotiate for the car.
It's an original survivor car that came from the original owner - who purchased the car new in Okinawa. It came with everything, including 5 hubcaps and the original driver's side fender. The car was in a fender bender a long time ago and the passengers side fender was damaged. They were both replaced with 67.5/68 year fenders. Oddly enough, the car also came with a replacement windshield with a TX registration sticker on it from 1967!
There are 3 rust areas on the drivers side but the rest of the car is very solid.
Here are some pix of the car from when I went and looked at it.
Cheers

So cool to see these 1500s! it is good motivator for me. Ive been overwhelmed with "while I am in here" and underwhelmed with time. Its posts and pics like these that help me refocus.

Sweet another Okinawa car. My dad had a '63 (I believe) while he was stationed there. Sold it just before he left and bought a new '66. The one I have now.jamesw wrote: the original owner - who purchased the car new in Okinawa.
Good luck on your latest project. I'm looking forward to seeing your next transformation.
