Regarding the yellowing, does that apply to all CB stuff? My friend just had his 67 dash wrapped in CB (looks really good with the gauges he got) so I want to warn him before final assembly if there are additional protections he needs to apply.

My daughter has a 2005 Suzuki Aerio SX SWT. It has the SWT CF package, mostly stick on stuff on headlights bumper b pillar etc. After 7 years in the North East and not being washed since her mother gave it to her, 3 yrs, only the headlamp covers are showing any yellowing and delamination. The rest looks pretty good.

I am a little thrown off by the "CB" term, maybe a typo?
There is nothing he needs to do to his new dash prior to installation, but regular visitation with hi grade wax will prevent the condition. What happens is the following string:
1. UV degrades surface resin, which becomes rough
2. aka: surface area goes up, accelerating UV degradation
Boats can stay gleaming for quite a long time, but they have to be waxed to keep the ultra-smooth finish.

<< only the headlamp covers are showing any yellowing and delamination >>
Either storage inside or the surface only gets partial light from being off-axis to the sun (like a bumper), or the CF is truly a "stick-on" applique.

I think the headlight covers just get the wind and rain more and are totally exposed,

I should get the trailer to Woody's CF guy and have him make a mold, only 2 pieces and I'm disassembling it to add roadster shaped rear fender fins and paint anyway.

Dave, that will be nice. I know this other guy that is doing a whole race car on DRY CF .... I mean everyhing, and they can mass produce what ever. But we have to set something like a group buy for the piece cause is a lot work to do the first. What you guys will be interested the most? Hoods, doors, hardtops ?

Smoothline has a comment on their website that carbon fiber is available on all their hardtops. It doesn't list a price though.

Although I prefer a hardtop painted to match the car, I like the look of the carbon fiber and it looks good on most colors I think. Buddy had Smoothline put black vinyl on his and it looks very nice but it would not be my choice.

HOODS. Easiest to change out, looks great, saves weight, not as pricey as a hardtop.

As for yellowing, When I buy CF pieces for my Yaris race car, I have them clearcoated with a UV protectant/clearcoat when I get them - no yellowing. Gelcoat only will yellow.

Also they just finish all metal work and fabrication. my whole front is one piece now and I will be able to remove it with the push of a few Dzus Self Ejecting pins. planing on doing this front on fiberglass soon, is not that heavy but I will like to shave a few more pounds....

I have a nice shape hardtop that would be awesome to pull a mold from. It is a low windshield top.

Garm, I did spoke to him on doing hoods... he's willing to do them in two versions: fiber glass and carbonfier. I have to drop my spare hood to him to make a mold. He did 3 coats of clear on my hardtop and if I keep putting a coat of wax once on a while it will prevent the clear from UV oxidation...
